We are delighted to report that Mo Monkton (Yeovil BC and SBA Life Member) has been awarded the prestigious Bowls England Certificate of Merit. At the BE Counties Meeting held in Solihull last Saturday 24th November 2018, Mo was presented with her certificate by BE President Bill Smith and BE Board Member David Tucker. The Bowls England Certificate of Merit recognises exceptional work of volunteers to support the sport of bowls at all levels in England.

Mo has been a successful bowler for many years, winning county and national titles and playing at international level. Wanting to give something back into the game she took on the role, 11 years ago, of Team Manager/Coach for Somerset’s  junior girls, as well as continuing to develop the junior section at her own club.

Her enthusiasm and passion ensured her success, and following the above, she was appointed as the Team Manager/Coach for the England disabled team for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014. This led to Mo being appointed as one of the founder members of the Disability Bowls England Association. Here she works tirelessly to develop this Association as well as managing and coaching the DBE international teams. As well as all of the above, she also is a Selector for the ladies international teams.

Somerset Bowls Association congratulates Mo on this wonderful acknowledgement of her service to bowls – well done Mo!
